Weight Training Soccer: The Truth About Conditioning

You’ve probably heard it a hundred times that weight training soccer is a major part of sports training these days as it creates stronger and faster muscles. The soccer fitness plan discussed in this article will help you prepare your players for playing soccer at a higher level.

During soccer weight training the aim is to improve the strength, speed and stamina of the muscles instead of just increasing the muscle weight. Although the lower body strength is more important in soccer but we still carry on with the upper body weight trainings for overall conditioning and strength.

You should start your fitness training with the legs first. Begin with the squatting exercises. When you are done with this warm up activity players are supposed to do 20 reps, so bar to be loaded should be according to their capacity. Assuming that they are quite strong, therefore they should begin with 220 pounds. They have to get under the bar, with it resting across their upper back, and stand up with it.

Now they must stand keeping their shoulders and feet width apart. Then they should come down while holding it till their hips are only marginally lower than the top of their knees. When they reach this level in weight training soccer, they should stand up quickly and exhale. They should be motivated to do this for 20 reps even when they are totally worked out.

Soccer Fitness

They should be given a break of 5-10 minutes before switching to the leg curl machine to work on hamstrings. They are required to perform 4 sets of 15 reps each. If you are a coach you should concentrate on increasing strength endurance during your soccer routine. General weight programs are not very useful if you use the common 3 sets of 8-12 reps each.

Free Soccer Training Drills: 4 Simple Steps To Switching

You need to setup six small goals on either side of the ground in order to carry on the drill. A team scores a point if it gets a player to run through the goals in the middle when playing out from the back. During free soccer training drills, the goals should be made sufficiently wide to show that there is not much use just positioning a player between them to prevent a run or pass. Select one player to run from goal A to B. To prevent the attackers to score, the players must remain between the goal.

Young defenders have tendency to move away from their designated positions. They move to where the ball is being played. Therefore teach your mid-fielders to be aware of those areas and make a move, if they can transfer the play from one side to the other and make use of the defenders unawares.

Dedicate some time during the next session of football drills, to show the players to cover the entire width of the pitch. Make  them practice  the skills, and show them where the actual risk may come from.

When controlling the ball, teach players to keep the ball near their feet: Of all soccer training tips, the one to keep the head up and be aware of the movements in the field is very important. While dribbling, they should try and touch the ball with every step. This ensures a close control of the ball and then enhances a player’s ability to take the ball away from defenders.

Adidas and FIFA have today presented the adidas “JABULANI”, the Official Match Ball for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, which has been developed in partnership with academics at Loughborough University.

The “JABULANI”, which means “to celebrate” in isiZulu, features a South African inspired design and radically new technology. The new match ball, which was unveiled in Cape Town, and soon will be available in retail outlets.

Aero grooves create the clearly visible profile on the ball’s surface. The Grip’n’Groove profile circles round the entire ball in an optimal aerodynamic way. The integrated grooves provide unmatched flight characteristics, making this the most stable and most accurate adidas ball ever. The adidas “JABULANI” have been tests and checks in the wind tunnel at Loughborough University and the adidas football laboratory in Scheinfeld, Germany.

If you hit the ball straight it will stay ultra straight and you will get an extra 10 yards out of the ball with a nice little dip at the end. But, if you put some spin on the ball, it moves! When I say the ball moves, I mean it dips, and weaves, and turns like no other!

The Jabulani is going to be every striker’s greatest Christmas gift and every goalkeeper’s nightmare. To be honest, I can’t wait to see Cristiano Ronaldo strike this Jabulani Ball because when he does it could be spectacular! I spent some time taking shots and it absolutely pings. The Jabulani is a very light ball and when you strike it clean it moves fast. In a sense, it reminds me of a plastic ball and it sounds plastic when you bounce it.

Striking it is a different story, as the ball feels like a leather ball, only it seems to encompass your foot when you strike it. When you control the ball off a long pass, you can feel the energy of the ball on your foot. Even though it is super light, there is a lot of power hidden inside!

What if I told you that selection of the players is a very important step in the tryouts soccer process? In order to be selected to play for a team, the player must meet the eligibility criteria based on the requirements of the soccer team.

No matter whether the players are newly selected or the retained, coaches expect the best from them. Coaches play a very important role in the development and the leadership of youth soccer program and that’s why much care is used in the review, test, and selection of kids in the tryouts.

The guidelines that follow are the core of the principles which guide the selection process and help with the direction to form teams.

The Port coach ensures that players of all ages and competitive levels are selected in an honest way and the selection is only based on the qualifications, skills, approach, commitment, participation and philosophy.

The coaches should make the players aware of both the short term and the long term objective of the team, league by explaining the level where the coaches want to place to the team and justifying it.

The coaches can interview the candidate for any questions, issues or suggestions only after reviewing the application. The coach will endeavor to observe the candidate during a practice session.

The soccer association interviews all the newly inducted players to assess the player’s qualifications and educate the players on the club’s policies, guidelines, and expectations.

Irrespective of the age group of players the coach train, there are some basic expectations from all coaches, the below are only a few.

A coach should make sure that the self-esteem of any player or parent is not affected at any time, by encouraging the players all the time. In tryouts soccer, the coach should build a good relationship which is open, strong, and productive with the players, league, parents, and the referees.

To make the program efficient to all the kids involved in the session, a coach should cooperate well with others.

The coaches are the agents of the Board as they will follow the Board’s guide, philosophy, and the agenda for the League.

Show the way by being an example in determining acceptable behavior patterns whether in the end, your team wins or loses.

As a coach, you must have an understanding and appreciation of the age group that you are managing. Respect the decisions and the point of authority of the referee in the soccer tournament. With no exceptions, one must attend all compulsory coaching and safety workshops on soccer coaching.

Practice your leadership role but let the players decide the result of the game.

Tryouts soccer coaches are expected to have some significant experience coaching the youth. They should ideally have a minimum of three to five years of soccer coaching or equivalent experience.
